If you have an android phone such as the Droid or Incredible, you know how horrible the battery life is. If you don’t touch the phone all day, you MIGHT make it to lunch time before needing to recharge it.
Thanks to Terry, I now have two backup batteries and a dedicated wall charger for spare batteries with an extra spare battery in my pocket at all times for when I’ll be away from a wall outlet for more than 4-6 hours. Sad, I know.
The good news is that I discovered a fantastic way to extend the battery life of your android phone on the Verizon network.
Verizon uses CDMA and one of the downsides is that you can’t use the data network while using the phone to talk. This means if your phone is a hotspot, it can’t be while you’re on the phone. It also means that you can’t browse the web, check your email, etc… while on a call.
The upside to this is that while you are talking on your phone (what a concept!) no background updates, checks or data usage are taking place and your battery while hardly know it was being used.
YES! If you TALK on your phone, your battery will last longer than if it’s just in standby – even with GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth off. So get offline, stop all the downloading and start talking up a storm. 🙂
